Why I built Ops Hospitality

After years working around hospitality operations, I kept seeing the same problems repeat themselves: managers constantly reacting instead of planning ahead, staffing decisions made with limited visibility, and critical information spread across spreadsheets, WhatsApp chats and disconnected systems.

Most restaurant, café, bar and food & beverage teams already work incredibly hard. The real issue is that many hospitality businesses still operate without clear systems behind day-to-day decisions.

Most hospitality teams do not need more complexity. They need simpler operations, better visibility and practical systems that actually work day to day.

Ops Hospitality started as a small attempt to simplify those operational problems. The goal was never to build another corporate hospitality platform. The goal is to create practical tools, clearer systems and resources that managers can actually use.

Who Ops Hospitality is for

Ops Hospitality is for restaurant owners, general managers, chefs, F&B managers, hospitality operators and consultants who need practical resources instead of complicated theory. The site is built around real operational questions: how much labour should a rota cost, what food cost percentage is healthy, what sales are needed to break even, and which KPIs actually help managers make better decisions.

The resources are designed for independent restaurants, cafés, bars, hotels, food & beverage outlets and growing multi-site hospitality businesses. Some users may only need a quick calculator. Others may want Excel templates, checklists, guides or future dashboards to organise weekly performance. The aim is to make operational numbers easier to understand and easier to act on.

UK-based, built for operators worldwide

Ops Hospitality is based in the UK, so you will see UK spelling such as labour and familiar UK hospitality terms such as rota. But the problems the site helps solve are not UK-only problems.

Restaurants, cafés, bars, hotels and food & beverage teams around the world all need clearer ways to manage labour cost, food cost, staffing, pricing, KPIs, break-even sales and profitability.

That is why Ops Hospitality tools are designed to be adaptable. You can use your own currency, local tax or sales tax rules, payroll assumptions, supplier costs and operating model.

Use your own currency Calculators and templates are designed around operational logic, not one specific currency. Use £, $, €, AED or any local currency that fits your business.
Adapt to local tax rules Where tax, VAT or sales tax matters, the goal is to make the structure flexible enough to match your local market and reporting needs.
Labour cost clarity The site uses UK spelling as the default, but the concepts apply globally to payroll, staffing, scheduling and labour percentage control.
Staff schedule / rota planning “Rota” is a common UK hospitality term, but the same tools apply to staff schedules, shift planning and weekly labour planning in other markets.
